Goodbye – Words of Sympathy

I always took for granted,
what I thought I’d never lose.
Because I never thought it would happen,
until I heard the dreaded news.

They say you were chosen for his garden,
His preciously hand picked bouquet.
“God really needed him,
That’s why he couldn’t stay.”

Saying goodbye is never easy,
It’s the hardest thing to do.
But what hurts me even more
Is not the chance to say it to you.

So today, Jesus, as you are listening
in your home above;
Would you go and find my dad,
And give him all my love!

  1. What a beautiful and moving poem, Tammy. My father unexpectedly passed away last week and your poem puts into words my own feelings. I do wish I could have said goodbye and told him that I love him.

  2. This is a great poem! My daughter-in-law just lost her Father last Saturday and I emailed her this poem. I think it fit her situation perfectly too! I think it helped her and is just a beautiful poem

    Thank you so much for this.
